School Uniforms
Going to school in a crisp new uniform, the children from the slum areas are being given a chance to break the cycle of poverty. At present nearly 200 children are assisted with school fees, lunches and uniforms.
Many of the families living in the slums just simply cannot afford the school fees and it is the goal of the project to offer even more places.
Currently the children assisted by the programme attend several schools across the city as their ages range from 5- 17, from kindergarten to Vocational School. Their enthusiasm for learning and school is inspirational and will surely yield positive results in the not too distant future.
The school uniforms are bought in April and May of each year and it is amazing to see how some of the children have grown in one year! Brilliant white shirts and khaki shorts, red skirts and blouses and special scouts day uniforms all add up to a very colourful event.
