Fresh Water
Having access to clean fresh water is something that people in the "western world take very much for granted. We can turn on a water tap and know that the water is safe to drink. This is not the case in Thailand where drinking water needs to be purchased bottled, as the piped water supply is not recommended to be drunk.
In Pattaya there is a piped City supply of water but this can only really be used for washing and cleaning. The water system is such that too many contaminants can affect the supply and so using it as drinking water is not a possibility.![]()
The families who live in the slums do not have running water in their homes and so they rely on water tankers to deliver water to tanks or they purchase the water or sometimes from standing water. It is not surprising then that illnesses and sickness are common in the slum areas due to the lack of access to clean fresh water.![]()
It is one of Kate's Project main aims that the families assisted do have "good" water, so over the last 12-18 months many have received water tanks or have built some form of tank themselves.

The water tankers can now deliver fresh water at least once a week to many of the slum areas and Kates Project would like to extend this service across many of the slum areas. It is only with the constant support of sponsors and donors that will allow this to happen.
